Premise Differentiation: Members Get to the Root of Their Ideas [Grumpy Hours!]

If we can drill down to the root cause of the problem we want to solve and thus reach the core of any idea, we can build up more original thinking from that place. In other words, the key to sharpen our ideas and developing an original and valuable premise to stand out is often being more honest with ourselves. (Here’s an essay I wrote about that idea.)

To help members reach that honest place and find the foundation of their premises, we introduced Grumpy Hours to the Kitchen. We earmarked a couple of regularly scheduled calls and asked that people come ready to rant and share their brutally honest frustrations with the problems they want to solve.

In the videos below, you can watch several members go through the process. You can also use this worksheet to sharpen your own (that’s the central document in the Premise Differentiation menu. All the material for that menu can be found here.)

Time to get grumpy!
