This Audio Production Move Feels Like a Secret. Now You'll Notice It Everywhere.
“NO WAY!”
That was my reaction when I first learned this technique from other podcasters and public performers. And now I see it everywhere.
When editing my episodes, sometimes, I make changes, remove things, and add things as a means to fix something that is wrong with the piece. Other times, I’m making changes, removing things, or adding things to improve the flow of the experience or strengthen the story.
But THIS technique is one I use for both reasons. And although it took me a long time to master, I’m really glad I did. It opened up a whole world of possibilities.
NOTE:
Use this technique ethically. What you record as a re-dub needs to match the meaning conveyed in the original. If you originally said, “Do you love writing?” and the guest said, “Yes, absolutely,” don’t re-dub your question later to ask, “Do you hate children?”
Get it? Got it? Good. 😆
